Births, Deaths & Marriages anxiety

Fucks sake:

David has all his Centrelink forms ready to go, so that he can proceed to apply for the Sickness Allowance. The only thing left is to get his birth certificate for ID and we'll be off down to the Centrelink office with all the proof needed to establish our poverty and David's illness.

The urgent birth cert application we sent cost $75 for it's urgency, and the updated turnaround times (as instructed on the graphic above to check) is still 10 working days. Today is the 15th working day and it's still not here. It's holding the whole process up, whilst we starve.

So David rings them, and is promptly put on hold for about 15 minutes. The news is strange. Evidently their whole computer system went down and 15,000 applications were delayed :s  Doesn't sound like a very good new system to me. He asks about the $75 and is told there will be a $25 refund for the delay (OMG we're rich!).

The bloke on the phone goes off to find out where it is, and David's back on hold. Finally he comes back and it's sorted. Will likely be in the mail today and will arrive by snail mail early next week.

Then, and only then, will we finally be prepared for the big trip out to Centrelink. *sheesh*
