On a high over my CD4 count

Went to the doctors earlier today for the quarterly blood test results. I've been especially interested to find out these ones as I've been having episodes of severe vomiting and feeling incredibly shit house for a day or two. The results were a bit mixed.

The HIV is going along marvellously, or should I say the HIV treatment. Just about had to pick my chin up off the floor when he told me the CD4 count. It's the highest it's ever been since having HIV blood tests, at 920. I was pretty amazed man. The viral load remains undetectable.

It was steady as she goes with my kidneys. The creatinine levels (toxins not cleared out by the kidneys) were about the same as last time at 107. It wont get any better than that as the damage from lack of oxygen is irreparable, but that's an excellent result given that. I'd say there'll be no more improvement there and the results have bottomed out at the best they'll get.

My cholesterol has gone up to over 6. OMG I'm doomed! Meh, I'll look at eating a bit less butter and the like. Problem with that is that as sick as I get sometimes I'm not even wanting to eat at all, let alone eat something that's as bland and tasteless as bloody cardboard. It really does need to taste good to be edible sort of thing. I've even lost weight of late, about three kilos, down to only 65 kilos. Not good I don't think as I'm already light.

And then came the big downer. Beer drinking. Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Evidently my liver is showing signs of wear darlings. Not the first time in my life I've got my liver in the shit though. Had hep C years back, in fact one of the first in Australia to be tested for it. Cleared it on my own, but not before my liver chucked a hissy fit. Wasn't able to drink for months, and even after had to take it really easy; just light beer.

Been seeing this HIV doctor now for a few years and he's never had such a worry about my liver. Either there's something genuinely worth worrying about, or perhaps he's concerned that the HIV meds may well in time have their own effect on my liver quite apart from beer? But anyway, if that's all my current health concerns are then it's fuck all compared to what's happened in the past.

Still on a high over that CD4 count :)
