US "Values Voter Summit" - no values

This is one of those occasions where people would expect more understanding given that this is all coming out of the US. Instead we get hatred "disapproval" of gay people, couched in religious conservatism. I for one would expect that (now) from Russia, and it's surprising to see some of this incredibly harsh rhetoric coming out of a country that has in the past valued difference.

Do some of these "values voters" speaking at the summit even know any gay people? Yet they're talking about me like they know me. How can someone "disapprove" of me and assume I'm part of an evil plot to attack marriage, without even meeting me? Who in the marriage equality struggle on our side has declared war on either marriage or society? All we want to do is have access to the same expression of love as everyone else has.

But no, our sexuality is politicised, shoved into a box called the enemy, politicised by a political system that can't even agree enough to keep itself fuckin open. Then they blame us for it. Just have a look at this little bit of delusional, paranoid psychosis:

Well bitch, maybe there's something about "keeping it private" that's triggers shocking memories for gay people? Like, um, the closet? Perhaps darling if you raving conservative religious maniacs would shut the fuck up about us (ie - "keep it private") then we wouldn't feel the fuckin need to protest at your religious drivel trying to take over our societies? How about you straights keep your sexuality private then? How about keeping your stupid god private then? We don't go around trying to shove religion into your bedroom.
