Abbott continues poll slide

Despite the Lieberals being ahead in the State elections coming shortly for Tasmania and South Australia (both of which have long serving Labor state gov's), federally it's a very different story. All the polls appear to be trending away from Abbott's Apocalypse, as this handy graph from The Poll Bludger indicates:


This latest one from Morgan though must be rather frightening for the Lieberals, although for some reason Morgan can favour Labor a bit. This one has Labor way the hell out in front at 53.5 to Lieberal 46.5. There's margin for error but certainly the trend is on.  
“The ALP (53.5%, up 3% since February 15/16 & 22/23, 2014) has its biggest lead over the L-NP (46.5%, down 3%) on a two-party preferred basis since the L-NP regained Government after winning last year’s Federal Election. 

“The biggest news over the past two weeks has been the Qantas announcement that it was to sack 5,000 employees (about a seventh of its entire workforce) in an effort to cut costs and maintain its viability as an airline. Despite Qantas making several attempts to secure further Government support, it appears the Abbott Government will not provide any ‘special assistance’ to Qantas. 

“Instead, the Abbott Government has committed to repealing the Qantas Sale Act – which ensures a majority of Qantas is Australian-owned, and also remains committed to repealing the Carbon Tax – which will not be possible before the new Senate sits in July. more
