Paul Keating was the Labor PM in the early '90's before being turfed by that terrible John Howard. As always with the right, the defeat was a populist one without ideas.
Keating is a very intelligent man. Here he gives an interview last November just after Trump was elected president. Most notably he calls in to question the almost hallowed view many Australians have of the ANZUS alliance (Australia, New Zealand, United States) and how we should man up so to speak in regards to that.
He makes the point that the alliance is good, but not if we're just about in prayer to it.
