The National Broadband Network rollout will now give a date expected to be completed in your area. You just put your address in and a time frame comes up.
So, trying to contain my untold excitement at connecting to Turnbull's lemon, I put in our address to see when this marvelous lemon will arrive at our place. It's not until late next year in 2018, making it a full two years late of Turnbull's promise to have the whole thing completed by 2016.
There is a consolation prize though. They'll be using Hybrid Fibre Coaxial cable to connect between the node and the house, which will be somewhat better than just the copper that Turnbull is buying by the tonne. However nothing like fibre that Labor planned for the NBN capable of 1Gbps.
This has to be the biggest infrastructure fuck up in Australia's history. It's going to cost $billions to fix in the future when they measure net speeds in how many Gigabits per second instead of Megabits. I mean imagine today talking about net speeds and using Kilobits per second (Kbps) like the old days. Such low speeds would make the connection unusable with today's information requirements on the web.
