Around 70 people gathered at NSW Parliament House on Wednesday night to revisit the worst comments made about LGBTI people in the past year.
Among the local winners were Katter Australia’s Party candidate Tess Corbett for equating gay people with paedophiles; media commentator and columnist Andrew Bolt for saying gay men and women already have marriage equality as they were free to marry people of the opposite sex just like everyone else; and singer Anthony Callea for eschewing gay activism because he lived a “normal lifestyle”.
Around the world, Southern Baptist Convention President Reverend Fred Luter was named the winner in the ‘Religion’ category for suggesting that support for gay rights could be linked to North Korea’s recent threats against the United States; while Former Major League Baseball player Mark Knudson won the ‘Sport’ category for urging gay athletes to stay in the closest so as not to impact the “cohesiveness of the locker room”.
However, the top prize is the Golden GLORIA, which is decided by a ‘boo-off’. And this year, NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay scored the loudest jeers for his role in removing the rainbow crossing on Oxford Street.
While he was not on hand during the ‘boo-off’, Gay did make an appearance later in the night to collect his award – this time, to applause. more

I didn't know about this. Looks a very funny occasion. The annual Gay & Lesbian Outrageous, Ridiculous and Ignorant Comment Awards (GLORIAs) which includes awarding overseas people as well. Our dear friend Duncan Gay lost the boo-off for his ripping up of the rainbow crossing. Here he is recieving his Golden GLORIA.
