Zambian gay couple arrested

Further to the recent post about the evangelical Christians in Africa stirring up anti-gay sentiment, we now have two Zambian guys being the first to be arrested under new harsh laws against gay people. The charge is "having sex against the order of nature contrary to the laws of Zambia."

In a disgusting act, they were reported to the police by their own relatives. I guess that shows the level of complete hysteria and fear being whipped up over there in regards to gays.

They were given bail, but incredibly were re-arrested and then denied bail after they were caught again having sex. They now face further charges for that.

You can read the whole story here, but the bit from that article that stunned me a bit was a reference to the evangelicals churches themselves, who are making their hatred of gays known loud and clear.
Last month, activist Paul Kasonkomona was arrested minutes after a live TV appearance in which he said homosexuality should no longer be outlawed.
In a recent interview with the Guardian, the Zambian vice-president, Guy Scott, defended the police action. "The problem with this guy going on television was that we had to do something because if we had done absolutely nothing we would have got a bollocking from all these evangelical churches plus damn idiots," he said. "On the other hand, we didn't want to give him a particularly hard ride." more
That's by the vice president of Zambia FFS, saying it seems that gays must be arrested and made a show of so the churches won't chuck a hissy fit. Absolutely unbelievable.  The churches over there are virtually running the fuckin gov

It follows then that this arrested of two innocent gays is another example of Christian love?
