The AMWU has come out fighting over Abbott's misinformation and lies being spread, saying workers at the company were earning too much. This is from the AMWU, quoting also from the union delegate:

Union members at SPC Ardmona who were vilified by Tony Abbott for what he labelled “extraordinary” work conditions have been vindicated in a major humiliation for the Prime Minister. 

The company dismissed his attack on the low-paid workers as baseless. 

And local Liberal MP Sharman Stone accused the PM of lying for linking SPCA’s union agreement to its financial woes. 

“It’s good that one Liberal has stood up and called Abbott’s comments about our working conditions for what they are,” said AMWU delegate Mick Cannon. 

“A lot of our workers at SPCA don’t even earn $50,000, they find it hard to pay the bills and here’s a bloke with all his politician’s allowances trying to say it’s too much. 

“Abbott’s trying to make us workers the scapegoats for his government’s decisions to destroy jobs.” 

AMWU National Secretary Paul Bastian said the events had exposed the Government’s strategy to blame regional workers to justify its ideological decisions to abandon industry. 

He said the Coalition was trying to deceive the Australian people by shifting blame onto workers for its failures to assist Electrolux, Holden and last week the Goulburn Valley community. 

“Let’s be clear here, this is a perverse ideological game being played by this Government,” Mr Bastian said. 

“They have made an extraordinary decision to not support manufacturing, and instead blame ordinary workers for factors that have nothing to do with their wages, conditions or even productivity.” more

The lies and more lies told by this gov! "Union bosses union bosses......" Abbott blaming somebody earning less than $50,000 a year for the difficulties faced by the company, as earning too much. These are just everyday normal working people, who are being attacked by this gov to try and preach to us their ideology. All they're doing is earning a decent wage that's enough to live on, but this gov is calling that greedy. How obscene.
