Elton John a "sodomite" - Russian parents

Sir Elton John is booked to perform in Russia this December, saying that he has to go to show support for the gay community there. This has raised the ire of a parents committee who has written to Putin asking him to cancel the concert. They claim:

“The singer intends to come out in support of local sodomites and break the current Russian law, directed at protecting children.” more

Now this may get very interesting. Sir Elton isn't just one of the latest stars to happen on the scene. He's been around for decades and has a huge following in the west. I like some of his music myself. 

He's also been openly flamboyantly gay from the start. I don't see how he couldn't be accused of gay propaganda in Russia; all he has to do is simply be himself. In a sense, the stage is set for a showdown baby.

Will Putin back up his gay hate laws and ban him? Such a legend with a huge reputation. So much he's contributed over the years to music and the LGBT community. Being banned by Russia will be headline news I suspect in the west, especially as we're so close now to Sochi. Or will Putin try and suck up to the west ("please come to Sochi") and let him in? If he does I can't imagine Elton doing anything other than showing his support for the gay community there.
