Amidst all the disgust with Putin from the west, there comes support from a surprising quarter; US conservatives, who are now almost slobbering over Putin's performance on the gay issue and Syria.
This is a real surprise to me at least. Firstly because the far right in US politics is always going on about the red under the bed, and how such and such a policy is "Communist" and all. Now they're just about in love with Putin.
Secondly because I don't regard sexuality and marriage equality as conservative or progressive issues. They cross party lines and should be a conscience issue when voted on in parliament. Indeed many conservatives in the new Abbott Antichrist gov here in Australia are for marriage equality.
