US sending weapons to Syrian rebels

What complete and utter insanity. The last thing Syria needs is more fuckin weapons. But guess what, the US has started sending weapons to the rebels. Un-fuckin-believable. Incredible stupidity.

The CIA has begun delivering weapons to rebels in Syria, ending months of delay in lethal aid that had been promised by the Obama administration, according to U.S. officials and Syrian figures. The shipments began streaming into the country over the past two weeks, along with separate deliveries by the State Department of vehicles and other gear — a flow of material that marks a major escalation of the U.S. role in Syria’s civil war.

The arms shipments, which are limited to light weapons and other munitions that can be tracked, began arriving in Syria at a moment of heightened tensions over threats by President Obama to order missile strikes to punish the regime of Bashar al-Assad for his alleged use of chemical weapons in a deadly attack near Damascus last month. more

I don't know much about Syria at all, other than it looks to be an incredibly complicated conflict swamped in sectarianism. You can't just arm people and assume they're going to be the victors. Probably the worst thing about this is that the rebels are also guilty of mass killings.

“The perpetrators of these violations and crimes, on all sides, act in defiance of international law,” the report said. “They do not fear accountability. Referral to justice is imperative.”

The new report echoes warnings the panel issued in February, when it reported evidence of war crimes on both sides and said the violence was worsening, with increasing sectarianism, the radicalizing influence of a growing number of foreign fighters, and “the proliferation of weapons and types of weapons used.” At that time the panel urged the United Nations Security Council to refer those responsible for crimes to the International Criminal Court. more

So the US is arming mass murderers. Fuck! And people there wonder why they're so hated in some countries. Just don't get in the way of the weapons manufacturers. 

BTW, there's a petition going to protest this insanity. 

I urge you to halt all “lethal aid” in the Syrian conflict. The last thing Syria needs is more weapons, ammunition and other military supplies. The U.S. government and allies should stop sending lethal aid to rebels in Syria, while working for a reciprocal cutoff of all military assistance to the Syrian government by Russia and Iran.
