Priscilla bus gifted to Broken Hill

The Priscilla bus became famous of course in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

Since the movie there's been stage shows and modifications made to it for that. I dunno if I liked the idea of putting it into a stage show, but this looks pretty fun, from Broad way:

And the bus is now going back to the outback town of Broken Hill where much of the movie was filmed. This is the Palace Hotel, Broken Hill, which featured in the movie.

The modified Greyhound bus at the heart of the musical Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is heading to the Australian outback town that hosted the original film.

Stephan Elliott, who wrote and directed the comedy-drama The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert as well as the most recent stage adaptation, was a key figure behind the donation of the massive, colour-changing bus to Broken Hill, located in the southeastern state of New South Wales.

Elliott told Australian media that he had shot nearly half of the award-winning movie in Broken Hill.

"I'm not allowed to say who, but somebody was about to buy it for $1 million, and it was my decision to give it to Broken Hill."

Simon was suggesting a trip out to Broken Hill the other week. Dunno if I'd want to go it's right out back. Would be pretty cool though seeing what they've done to present the bus for the tourists.
