Scott Morrison to speak at the Australian Christian Lobby conference - Sydney

More love from the christians.....

Our illustrious treasurer, who attends that revolting happy clappy Hillsong church, is going to speak at the ghastly Australian Christian Lobby conference being held later this month in Sydney. What's more, there's also going to be a speaker there from the US lunar extremist right, being the Alliance Defending Freedom. Which are the same people Abbott did that stupid anti-gay speech to in the US.

Well it's pretty clear then just what unrepresentative swill are in bed with each other. The ACL represents hardly any Australian christians, and spend most of their time obsessed with us dastardly gays :s  The Alliance Defending Freedom isn't even Australian, but an extremist import from the US that is entirely unrepresentative of the great majority of us down under. So what does that say about Scott Morrison who's to speak at this event?

For years the Australian Christian Lobby have actively attacked the rights of LGBTI people by campaigning against almost every legislative reform designed to treat LGBTI people as equal citizens. Over the last 20 years they have made countless statements that degrade the LGBTI community, including comparing the same-sex couples raising children to the Stolen Generation, and labelling homosexuality as more hazardous as smoking.

On April 23 the Australian Christian Lobby will be holding its annual National Conference at the Wesley Conference Centre in Sydney, and they will feature a range of anti-gay and anti-trans speakers, including Dr Jeffery J Ventrella from the US-based "Alliance Defending Freedom" organisation, who actively campaign against the decriminalisation of homosexuality in countries where it remains a crime.

No member of Parliament should be involving themselves with an organisation that seeks to harm members of our community, and no member of Parliament should be speaking at this conference. Sign

There's also to be a protest at the conference. 

Australia's most vocal homophobes have scheduled their national conference in Sydney. Whenever a voice for the small-minded and hateful is needed the ACL are there to lobby the government to make the world a nastier place. Their current target? LGBTI school students and anyone who supports them, including the anti-bullying and LGBTI awareness program Safe Schools. Disgracefully, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has now capitulated to the homophobic campaign against the program, gutting it to the full satisfaction of the homophobic fringe. 

The ACL's conference will feature a who's-who of the homophobic right, including the dishonourable Scott Morrison - MP and current Australian Federal Treasurer, and Alliance Defending Freedom, the American gay-hate group and lawyers against progress who have been involved in keeping gay sex criminalised internationally and who were recently visited by our ex-PM Tony Abbott.
