We all remember how it was under George Bush. The US became the subject of world wide ridicule and mockery; how could 300 million people end up with someone so incredibly insular and stupid as this man? Is that the best they could do?
Probably what many people were asking about Australia under Abbott's reign of destruction. He was worse than Bush BTW. Perhaps the reasons he was elected are the same as when Bush was elected? Abbott is a career politician. It's all politics and powerplays, no convictions or morality other than rejecting the world view of everyone who doesn't think like him.
Now with Trump, if by some freakish event, he actually makes it into the white house, the anti-Americanism that will sweep the globe will make the Bush era seem like a Sunday picnic.
