White Australia has done some dreadful things since settlement. I'd have to say this has got to be up there with the worst of them.
The same white Catholic men doing this would likely dare to call us a christian nation.
Sickening. Stomach churning. Revolting hypocrisy. How could christians treat men, women, and children like this?
I don't accept that the majority of Australians want our gov to do this to vulnerable people seeking asylum.
This whole policy started under the Lieberal Howard gov with the stopping of the Tampa. Offshore processing of Asylum refugees became (wait for it...) "The Pacific Solution", to me reminiscent language from another time.....
The reason why this policy was invented? Because of a large swathe of western Sydney white racist rednecks, who just happened to live in western Sydney seats that could at the time change a gov.
Since then it's been a race to the bottom of the human rights pile by both major parties. It was Labor's Kevin Rudd (who toppled Gillard soon before the last election) who implemented the policy that nobody who came here by boat would ever be settled in Australia.
Rudd's new policy (which saw many lefties including me turn away from Labor aghast in horror at the time) was in fact a political move by him, attempting to neutralise the Abbott "Stop The Boats" policy. It was the harshest policy yet against asylum seekers. Shame....
Now we have both parties shit scared of being human to asylum seekers because of western Sydney redneck voters in valuable seats. SHAME!...
It breaks my heart and seriously upsets me. The reason I don't post about it much here. Not in my name.....
