What LGBT person in their right mind would want to live in a state that has pretty much bought in gay segregation? Especially young people just starting out in the work force and wanting to plan a future. What sort of future are they looking at living in North Carolina?
Gold also describes how the christian fundies just simply don't get it that sexuality isn't a choice. What person would actively choose to become a part of a persecuted minority? It's about who they are fundamentally, and to be genuine about who you are is priceless and can never be taken away even in the face of such segregation.
